Bagnall 0-6-0- 'Empress' at Pontypool & Blaernavon Railway
On a very chilly sunday in early january 2019 I blew the remaining christmas and new year cobwebs of with a shoot with and at;
Built in 1954 by Bagnall for the National Coal Board (NCB) 'Empress was introduced firstly at Measham pit Leicestershire and then transferred to nearby Cadley Hill pit Swadlincote Derbyshire where she worked till she was sold into preservation in 1987.
She was restored to working order and moved to the Mangapps farm railway where she was regularly steamed, withdrawn again in 2000 it was 14 years later that she re-entered service and in 2018 she moved to the south Wales valleys at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway where she is a popular addition to the fleet.
I have added two small video clips at the end of the still images for your enjoyment from the day.
